On May 9th, ShareAction - a UK-based charity promoting Responsible Investment - and the University and College Union (UCU) are holding a climate assembly. They will be discussing the steps the pension fund, the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), is taking to tackle climate change.
USS invests almost £50bn on behalf of its members. To successfully hold USS decision makers to account, they are coming together to see how they’re planning to keep in line with the 2°C limit set at COP21, and to demonstrate their commitment to greater member involvement and transparency.
There will be a discussion on what climate change means for pension funds and savers, with leading climate scientists including Professors Myles Allen, Kevin Anderson and Joanna Haigh.
The event will also include presentations from USS, made by:
Bill Galvin, Chief Executive of USS
Roger Gray, Chief Investment Officer of USS
David Russell, co-head of Responsible Investment at USS
