UK and Ireland Regional Chapter

“Collaboration and capacity building in responsible management education”
Call for Proposals: Deadline April 15th 2016

This year’s conference in Nottingham represents the 3rd Annual Conference of the UK and Ireland PRME Chapter. The conference represents collaboration between the Business Schools of Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham and is designed to coincide with the Annual Conference of the European Business Ethics Network (EBEN).

This co-incidence has inspired the theme for this year’s call “collaboration and capacity building in responsible management education”.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have provided a focus for the global business agenda with even greater ambition, and an emphasis to address the structural drivers of poverty, inequality and resource scarcity. As PRME signatories our potential to influence business leaders of the future is widely acknowledged, and as we consider the challenges set forth in SDGs, this may well set new emphasis on our research, teaching, relationships, and the capabilities that we need to enable responsible leaders for tomorrow.

The theme of this conference aims to stimulate discussion on questions such as: What are the capabilities and relationships that Higher Education Institutions need to enhance in light of SDGs? How can we better create meaningful collaborations that engage multiple stakeholders and institutions? How can we move forward powerfully together in service of the PRME principles? Keynote speakers are expected to include Professor Ed Freeman, speaking on the future of responsible management education, and a business panel debate on the ethics of access to energy.

The Organising Committee is inviting proposals for either:
a) ten-minute presentations or
b) 40-minute interactive workshops

Priority will be given to those proposals that actively engage participants in new or existing initiatives and encourage “collaboration and capacity building in responsible management education”. Proposals will be considered on any aspect of education for sustainable development, responsible management and leadership across three themes:

Track 1: How to develop capabilities for sustainable development and responsible management
practice and education;
Track 2: How to encourage collaborations with the PRME agenda and wider involvement in
learning for students of all disciplines;
Track 3: How to create greater dialogue and knowledge sharing between PRME and other stakeholders in the SDG outcomes.

Contributors are encouraged to submit proposals for one or more tracks. Please use the online form provided below and provide: a title and track number, along with an abstract of some 300 words https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PRME3UK.

This 3rd UK and Ireland conference continues to bring together advocates of responsible citizenship, management and leadership from universities and institutions across the UK and Ireland. The conference is open to academic and non-academic audiences, and not limited to members of the UK and Ireland PRME chapter or UN PRME signatories. Representatives of business and third sector organisations, and students of all disciplines, are particularly welcome.
