Join us on Thursday 4 December 2014 for the launch of the latest edition to the CIBSE Knowledge collection TM56 Resource efficiency of building services. The result of a collaboration between CIBSE and the UK Waste and Resource Action Programme (WRAP).

TM56 Resource efficiency of building services explores the impacts of building services in terms of manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and disposing of the equipment at end of life. It describes the principles and importance of resource efficiency and sets out the opportunities for improvement relating to heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, and lifts and escalators.

The launch event is being kindly supported by AECOM and hosted by the National Union of Students (NUS) who moved into its retro-fitted office at Macadam House in Kings Cross in March 2013.

Chair Alex Smith, Editor of the CIBSE Journal, will be joined by David Cheshire, Regional Director in AECOM's Sustainability team, and lead author of TM56, who will explain how the publication addresses the growing pressure on resources and the desire to shape a resource-efficient and more circular economy. Jamie Agombar, Ethical and Environmental Manager at the NUS, will then give a talk about the range of innovative features that has been incorporated into its new headquarters to improve building performance, and the initiatives that the NUS has used to be more resource efficient. The speakers will also be joined by Jeremy Palmer from Philips in the Q&A session, who was instrumental in delivering a world-first agreement for NUS to deliver the UK’s first pay per lux lighting model that operates as a cradle to cradle system.
