Scotland Conference 2019 - The Elephants in the Room

This full day conference will look at some of the more controversial and challenging issues facing sustainability professionals within Further and Higher Education today.  

This conference will consider the purpose of universities and colleges during a climate emergency and in the pursuit of a more sustainable world, We will also take a close look at some of the Elephants in the Room, with sessions currently being considered including setting meaningful carbon reduction targets, addressing academic travel, getting a handle on procurement emissions, making plastic-free pledges, carbon offsetting and supporting those with climate anxiety. The Conference will be tackling some of the thorniest issues facing our sector and features a range of workshop sessions, plenaries and panel discussions so there is a wide range of topics and sessions to choose from.

The Green Gown Awards will be taking place the same evening at Glasgow Science Centre, and we would be delighted if you were able to join us for the evening too! Green Gown Award Ceremony attendees from the rest of the UK are able to join the Scotland Conference for the afternoon session if you can't make the full day - book a half day place through the Green Gown Awards booking page.

The Elephants in the Room: Early Bird Full Day Delegate Place

Our Early Bird Rate will be available until the end of October and offers Members a saving on the full Conference Price of £120.  There is no discount for non-Member organisations. Please contact to check your membership status.

Event Terms

Reservation and attendance at this conference is subject to full payment up front. Refunds are only made if cancellation is received up to 14 days prior to the event and will be subject to a £50 admin fee. Places can be transferred to someone else free of charge.  Confirmations will be sent once payment has been received.

EAUC reserve the right to cancel the conference if there are insufficient paid bookings up to one week in advance, and we take no responsibility for travel and subsistence expenses incurred by delegates. In this instance, event fees will be refunded in full.

‚ÄčEAUC-Scotland work to minimise the sustainability impacts of catering at our events by using 100% vegetarian, locally sourced and Fairtrade refreshments when available. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements when booking your place.
