Reporting to the Head of Environmental Sustainability & Energy Services and working in partnership with the University's sustainability teams, engineering services, and other Facilities, Residential and Commercial Services (FRCS) teams, you will support a thriving District Network, excellent energy and water performance, and the transition to decarbonised utility operations.
 
This role has responsibility for delivering business management support to ULEC, the University's subsidiary energy company, providing operational management and specialist reporting of the District Energy Network. You will provide strategic advice on its development and decarbonisation, managing risk in respect of relevant operations and technically complex regulatory compliance, and recommending ongoing procurement strategies for the university's utility (energy and water) supply and management.
 
Leading a team dedicated to managing and controlling the University's financial expenditure and performance of energy, water and carbon emissions, you will have operational oversight of carbon management and utility functions sitting within FRCS, including providing assurance with all relevant energy and carbon legislation.
 
You should have a degree or equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience.
 
You will be responsible for providing technical advice against the University's mandatory sustainability obligations and commitments, including Net Zero by 2035 and those in the Strategic Plan and Sustainability Strategy. Also, to ensure they are in alignment with local and national policy development, and for leading on decarbonisation and high-quality carbon and energy accounting across the whole University estate.
