COP27

This year, United Nations Climate Change will host the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, marking the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the last 30 years, the adoption and creation of measures to mitigate climate change's impacts have been seen across sectors, nations, and at all levels of society. However, the journey to being a truly resilient and adaptable world faces increasingly complex challenges, hence the global coming-together at of parties, experts, and advocates is still essential.

We believe that the world is today better placed to grasp the science of climate change, the geopolitics of progress, and the sociocultural diversity that must be respected. The EAUC knows that the time to step up is urgent and that our resources to harness peoples' knowledge and ambitions are in abundance! With our Observer status with the UNFCCC, the EAUC attended COP26 in person; however, in 2022 we chose to participate differently. Partnering with SOS-International, we are facilitating the attendance of numerous individuals to Sharm El-Sheikh. Our delegation is giving youth a voice from underrepresented countries. Follow this page for updates from the COP27 delegation, as well as via our social media.

Throughout the calendar year, the EAUC facilitates and leads universities and colleges towards establishing and achieving their sustainability targets, as well as helping to bridge gaps between institutions and high-level political spaces. See below, our ongoing projects relevant to COP27:  Learn how we became involved with COP26 as Observers, and see our highlights from last year.
