Together we can make a difference and help research and innovation reach net zero.
Last night we attended the fantastic Awards Ceremony of the 2022 UK & Ireland Green Gowns, which was delivered in association with UKRI and hosted by Loughborough University. We gathered in person for the first time since 2019, with delegates, nominees, and supporting partners to celebrate the exceptional work and ambitions of the Further and Higher Education sector. The evening was hosted by Alison Robinson, Deputy Executive Chair at NERC, and Sahiba Singh, Media Chair for the Student Union and Graphic Design student at Loughborough University.

As the official delivery partner of these Awards, the EAUC would like to congratulate all who received a Green Gown Award! Of the 84 Finalists, representing institutions across the UK and Ireland and spanning 15 categories, there were 17 Winners and 19 Highly Commended. The EAUC sponsored the Sustainability Institution of the Year category, which was awarded to University College Cork for their Green Campus Programme. The programme launched in 2007 and has seen UCC become the first in the world to be awarded a Green Flag from the Foundation for Environmental Education, and the first in Europe to receive a Gold STARS rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. “Congratulations to the winners of the Green Gown Awards whose projects are making valuable contributions to sustainability initiatives across the higher education sector. Together we can make a difference and help research and innovation reach net zero.” Alison Robinson, NERC Deputy Executive Chair and Director of Business Delivery & Insight, part of UKRI
