About
The University of Salford Art Collection Team is a small but ambitious team embedding sustainability into every aspect of its work, from exhibitions and residencies to procurement, teaching and community engagement. Through major programmes including Hybrid Futures, Energy House Residencies and OFFSHOOT, the team has connected artists, scientists, students, researchers and local communities to explore climate change, nature and sustainable futures through creative practice. Its impact includes large public reach, measurable behaviour change among partners and suppliers, and practical improvements such as reusable packing, low-waste events and more sustainable sourcing. The team has also influenced teaching, supported graduate development, and helped build new cross-university sustainability networks. Despite having only two permanent posts, the team consistently goes beyond its core remit, using collaboration, innovation and art to create dialogue, inspire action and champion sustainability within the University of Salford and across the wider cultural sector.

What it means to win
We are delighted our Art Collection Team has been nominated for a Green Gown Award. By embedding sustainability into both their public programming and their working practices they have demonstrated a long term commitment towards a better, fairer world. Being awarded platinum in our internal awards for 4 consecutive years is in itself a huge achievement and we would like the team to be recognised nationally for their quiet leadership.
