About
The TSUL Hashar Environmental Initiative is a voluntary, community-based project where students, faculty, and staff unite to improve the university environment and surrounding areas. Rooted in the traditional Uzbek practice of hashar, this initiative promotes collective responsibility, sustainability, and civic engagement. Participants engage in activities such as cleaning public spaces, landscaping, planting trees and flowers, and maintaining green areas. The initiative is open to everyone and free of charge, encouraging widespread participation and inclusivity.
By combining cultural heritage with modern environmental awareness, the project fosters ecological responsibility, strengthens community spirit, and contributes to a cleaner and greener urban environment. It reflects a long-standing tradition in Uzbekistan of mutual aid and collective action for the common good.
