TABLE is a community-focused initiative building on our Chesterfield Eats Well (CHEW) and STEW (Staveley Eats Well) projects supporting disadvantaged students to develop essential life skills through healthy, affordable cooking. Building on previous success, the project delivers practical workshops that teach participants how to prepare nutritious meals using low-cost ingredients, promoting wellbeing, independence, and food literacy. In 2026, the project has strengthened its social impact through a partnership with Trinity Church, Chesterfield, where surplus meals produced during sessions are donated to their community food kitchen. This not only reduces food waste but directly supports vulnerable members of the local community. By combining education, sustainability, and community outreach, STEW, CHEW and TABLE empower students while making a meaningful contribution to tackling food insecurity and promoting healthier lifestyles across Chesterfield.
To win a Green Gown Award would mean so much to us as the crux of the awards align so closely with what we strive to achieve as an organisation with all of our stakeholders, from students to employers and our own staff. The golden thread of sustainability is something that runs through every facet of what we do here so to receive recognition for what we've achieved and continue to strive for would really empower our staff to know just how amazing their hard work actually is and their efforts really do make the difference.
