About
Glasgow Kelvin College has successfully addressed this gap through the creation of the Students for Sustainable Futures Society, a student-led sustainability group developed through partnership between students, the Student Association and the Environmental Sustainability Manager. The society has empowered students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to shape sustainability activity across the College while developing confidence and leadership. Students have led a wide range of initiatives including Veganuary events, Sustainable Fashion Week activities, ‘Mend and Make Do’ workshops, biodiversity projects, Earth Day litter picks, LGBTQIA+ History Month events and Pride celebrations. The initiative has shown that meaningful student sustainability leadership and engagement can thrive within the FE sector and provides a strong example of best practice for other colleges.
