About
Since 2020, Tecmilenio has implemented an institution-wide sustainability strategy across its campuses in Mexico, integrating energy, water, and resource efficiency into its core operations. By 2025, 42% of its electricity consumption comes from renewable sources, combining wind energy and on-site solar generation, with additional solar capacity coming online in 2026. Energy efficiency efforts include the transition to LED lighting, reaching 83% coverage nationwide. Water initiatives include the installation of smart drinking fountains, avoiding over 8 million single-use plastic bottles (equivalent to 160 tons of plastic), as well as wastewater treatment plants that strengthen responsible water management. Together, these actions reflect a scalable, data-driven model that delivers measurable environmental impact while embedding sustainability across the institutional community.
