About
UM6P is committed to ensuring that no African woman is excluded from education due to financial, social, or structural barriers. In 2025, UM6P launched the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, a 10-year partnership to support 575 young African women through fully funded access to higher education in STEM fields critical to sustainable development.
The program targets talented women from underrepresented backgrounds, including rural, low-income, refugee, and disabled communities. It removes financial and administrative barriers while enabling access to key sectors such as agriculture, engineering, data and AI, and social sciences.
Beyond funding, the program provides holistic support including mentorship, leadership training, and career services, fostering a new generation of women leaders driving inclusive and sustainable development across Africa.
