About
The Future Skills Tutorial Programme is a whole-cohort, structured sustainability and personal development framework delivered to all sixth-form students at Highlands College – Jersey’s only general further and higher education provider. Three in-house schemes of learning, delivered by 33 tutors, embed sustainability literacy across all year groups, covering Carbon Literacy, circular economy principles, poverty, emissions, and the 17 UN SDGs. Following a 2025 whole-college audit by SOS-UK, SDG integration was further strengthened to ensure deeper systems thinking and applied learning. Final-year students complete an assessed SDG ‘Changemaker’ project, delivering real-world sustainability interventions within the Jersey community. Reaching 600 – 800 learners annually in a population of 105,000, the programme represents a systemic intervention in workforce readiness, civic leadership and Jersey’s transition to net zero.
