About
Our Learner Development department demonstrates that meaningful environmental impact comes from consistent, collective small actions, with students at the heart of this work.
Learners are empowered to lead initiatives that reduce waste, build community, and reinvest resources into their learning. Projects include a successful recycling initiative, repurposing materials into planters and a portable mini golf course, and maintaining a garden where students grow and use produce. A pre-loved clothing sale further supported sustainability and community wellbeing.
Through collaboration between staff and students, these initiatives deliver real outcomes. Learners develop confidence, practical and transferable skills, and a strong awareness of sustainability and community responsibility, becoming active drivers of positive change.

What would it mean to win?
Winning a Green Gown Award would reinforce and celebrate the hard work taking place across the college. Recognition at this level would be particularly meaningful for our students, who have led many of these initiatives, providing them with the acknowledgement and credit they deserve, as well as our teaching staff. It would also strengthen our sustainability profile, showcasing the positive impact of our work as we continue to progress towards becoming a leading sustainable college. This recognition would not only celebrate what has been achieved so far, but also inspire further innovation, engagement, and commitment to sustainability across our college.
