The University of Stirling’s 330 acre estate is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna across gardens, grasslands, woodlands and loch environment. We take immense pride in our campus and over the last year implemented measures to protect, enhance and support our local biodiversity. These include our Campus Biodiversity Strategy 2026 – 2036, Art of Nature Trail, tree planting with Forth Climate Forest and our biodiversity awareness events which all form the Campus Biodiversity Project. During this project we have worked closely with teams across the organisation to ensure our biodiversity efforts are aligned, creating spaces that not only meet the functional needs of staff and students but also preserve and enhance local ecosystems for now and into the future. |
Top three learnings
1. We have learned that resourcing biodiversity activity goes a long way and is a wise investment.
2. We have learned that people care strongly about nature and biodiversity.
3. We have learned that biodiversity recovers fast if given the chance.
