About
The International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) has committed to a structured climate transition strategy aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. Since 2009, the institute has conducted an annual carbon assessment to manage its greenhouse gas emissions. This approach has enabled the development of a carbon neutrality plan incorporating mitigation actions across Scopes 1, 2, and, progressively, Scope 3. Concrete measures are being implemented, including energy efficiency, the integration of renewable energy, and resource optimization. Monitoring is based on performance indicators and an internal reporting tool (CIC). At the same time, 2iE is strengthening climate adaptation, research, and innovation in key areas. The institute actively engages its stakeholders, particularly students. Finally, it leverages its experiences to disseminate best practices across African institutions.
