EAUC’s response to the Welsh Government’s call for evidence on the future of tertiary education highlights the critical role of universities and colleges in supporting a just transition to a low-carbon, sustainable economy. It emphasises the need for stronger alignment between education, skills and industry to address green skills gaps and ensure clear progression pathways for learners across further and higher education.
The submission calls for more flexible lifelong learning provision, improved collaboration across the sector, and targeted investment in sustainable estates and infrastructure. Drawing on member evidence, it identifies key barriers including funding constraints, fragmented pathways and limited capacity, and sets out recommendations to better connect policy, provision and labour market demand to support Wales’s net zero and economic ambitions.
