EAUC’s response to the Welsh Government’s consultation on 16 to 18 local curricula guidance supports the move towards a more joined-up, learner-centred tertiary system, with Medr playing a key coordinating role. It highlights the opportunity to better align post-16 education with Wales’ sustainability and net zero ambitions.
The response emphasises the need to embed sustainability, green skills and global citizenship across curricula, alongside clearer progression pathways and stronger links between education, industry and careers guidance.
Drawing on EAUC research and member insights, it identifies challenges including fragmented provision, skills gaps and limited capacity, and calls for clearer policy direction, improved coordination and greater investment to support a just and sustainable transition.
