These resources are designed to help universities and colleges explore, plan and deliver woodland projects that generate carbon credits and support long-term carbon sequestration on their land. The suite includes practical tools to guide institutions from early scoping through to full implementation. Users will find a business case and presentation template to support internal buy-in, information on funding and grant routes, a step-by-step guide to registering with the Woodland Carbon Code, and financial modelling tools to assess costs and projected sequestration. A glossary of key terms and a detailed case study from the University of Leeds further support understanding and good practice.
These resources were developed through the Environment Agency–funded NEIRF project called "University and College Land for Carbon" delivered by the EAUC with MyCarbon and shaped by a steering group of sector institutions and the Woodland Carbon Code.
For wider offsetting advice, institutions can visit the Carbon Coalition.
