The SDG Accord is a free global initiative. It can be signed by institutions or sector support organisations.
In both cases, the commitment needs to be made by the highest authority (such as a vice-chancellor, president or chief executive) on behalf of the whole institution.
We have temporarily paused new signatory applications. Please contact info@eauc.org.uk if you wish to be notified directly when it is possible to sign up again.
Institutions in the higher education and/or TVET sector can apply to become a signatory.
This includes universities, colleges, TVET centres and adult education providers.
As a signatory, you commit to:
Align all major efforts with the SDGs, targets and indicators
Adopt a whole-institution approach to embedding the SDGs, including through learning and teaching, research, leadership, operational and engagement activities
Involve members from all key stakeholder groups in these efforts, including students, academics, professional staff, local communities and other stakeholders
Share our progress and experiences with our stakeholders and other SDG Accord signatories
Submit an annual update (requested by the EAUC) detailing your institution’s progress in embedding the SDGs
We have temporarily paused new signatory applications. Please email us to be notified directly when they open again: info@eauc.org.uk.
Organisation such as associations or networks in the education sector who commit to supporting their networks and members to embed the SDGs, can apply to become a signatory.
As a support organisation signatory, you commit to:
Promote the SDGs and the SDG Accord to your members at least once a year
Support your network of education institutions to align their efforts with the SDGs, including through their education, research, leadership, operational and engagement activities

As of 2026, we're sorry to say that we're no longer able to accept signatories from individuals to the SDG Accord.
As a charity that delivers the SDG Accord free of charge without external funding, we have made the decision to refocus the programme on whole-organisation level commitments in order to maximise our impact.
We strongly encourage universities and colleges to collaborate with their student bodies as part of their commitment to the SDG Accord.
If you're from a student body, you can contact your senior leadership or sustainability team to find out more your existing participation in the programme or encourage the institution to sign up.
If you need any additional information about this, please contact us on: info@eauc.org.uk.
