About
The University of Liverpool has demonstrated transparency by publishing sustainability performance through accessible web content and downloadable reports since 2022.
Our reporting is embedded in university governance structures, with Financial Statements approved at the highest level and externally audited by Ernest Young. Our Sustainability Strategy Progress and SDG reports are approved by our Senior Leadership Team and internally audited by KPMG.
Use of recognised frameworks (ISO 14001, SDGs, Fairtrade, SCEF) support robust risk management and inform the University’s strategic risk register, where sustainability has been tracked since 2023.
We engage internal and external stakeholders to develop our reports, with staff, students, and external partners co-creating outcomes and contributing evidence across research, education, operations, and public engagement.
Progress is measured against KPIs aligned with the University Strategy, where sustainability is an overarching theme. This ensures integration with broader business reporting and enables measurable impact, continuous improvement, and institution-wide accountability.
