About
Michelle Treasure is an outstanding sustainability champion at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, whose leadership has transformed both environmental practice and community support at the Swansea campus. As Cleaning Manager, she established the Community Cupboard, a high-impact reuse hub providing free essential items to students, staff and the wider community. Since February 2024, it supports around 40 users weekly and redistributes over 2,200 items annually, including 400 PAT-tested electrical goods.
Her initiative is estimated to divert several tonnes of reusable materials from waste each year, preventing emissions associated with manufacturing new products while delivering approximately £10,000 in social value annually. By mobilising 25 volunteers contributing over 2,400 hours each year, Michelle has embedded a culture of reuse, dignity and shared responsibility. Her energy, compassion and determination make her a driving force for sustainable and inclusive change.

What it means to win

It would celebrate the outstanding work of Michelle Treasure and colleagues involved in the Community Cupboard, highlighting the positive social and environmental impact of their efforts.
