About
University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) has embedded sustainability at the core of its governance, operations, and academic model, positioning the university as a living laboratory for sustainable development in Africa. Led by the Sustainable Development Office (SDO) under Institutional Affairs Division, sustainability is integrated into institutional strategy and decision-making. UM6P has adopted a whole-institution approach through its Institutional Sustainable Development Policy, developed a comprehensive decarbonization plan, and piloted a Sustainable Development Fund supported by the OCP Foundation, aligning investments with low-carbon priorities and enabling measurable impact, including renewable energy deployment and emissions reduction. Sustainability is also embedded in learning and research through experiential education and participation in global initiatives such as Climate Impulse, providing students with hands-on experience in clean technologies. Through strong partnerships and global engagement, UM6P positions itself as a scalable model for sustainability in higher education.
