How BU have developed a media education ecosystem that delivers a sustainable talent pipeline valued by industry

About
The Bournemouth University have pioneered a model to equip media production employees of tomorrow with green skills and behaviours for a sustainable future and developed a system that ensures our education directly meets employers’ technical demands. Our approach is rooted in BU being a founding member of the BAFTA albert Education Partnership (BAEP) and has grown into a multi-layered sustainable training ecosystem. Carbon literacy and sustainable production are embedded into core curricula, reaching over 800 students with albert training. Our research-led teaching brings global perspectives - from Indigenous filmmaking in the Amazon, to wildlife conservation storytelling - ensuring graduates possess the cultural and ethical competencies to lead. We foster regional partnerships including with our local councils and reach out to local schools, so BU are building a sustainable talent pipeline that is valued by industry and delivers approximately 40 graduates working for productions nominated for Academy Awards each year.
