A collaborative, creative, holistic and sustainable approach to healthy food options across our college. Encompassing the daily kitchen functions, themes and special events, a local produce shop, training and learning opportunities, and a circular economy approach. Providing a wide range of diet and menu options that span cultures and utilise seasonal, local and ethical products. Very collaborative across different staff teams, individual staff personal development aims, student input and feedback and community connections. Considering elements across the whole supply, and production chain, to reduce carbon footprint for purchased items, reduce the dependence on purchased items through growing, storing and preserving on site, monitoring and evaluating energy use, equipment and resources used.
1. How many exciting ideas can come to fruition when people are given opportunity and encouragement
2. How important it is for sustainability for us to embrace historical 'lost' methods
3. How much we have bonded as individuals, teams and an institution through this work
It would be a huge accolade for our small college and would mean the world to all our dedicated staff who have worked so hard and enthusiastically on this project. It would really reinforce that we are doing an excellent job, going above and beyond to improve our college, environment, health and influence.
12. Responsible consumption and production
