About
“Sustainability” as longitude, “Future” as latitude: Learning from the real world to teach for a sustainable future centers on National Taichung University of Science and Technology’s mandatory first-year course “The Way of the University,” establishing a unique university-wide sustainability foundation project in Taiwan. The project focuses on self-exploration and real SDG issues, enabling students to build sustainability values, global perspectives, and action capabilities in their first year. It consistently covers nearly 1,100 first-year students across 22 departments annually and has become a crucial foundation for university sustainability governance, curriculum transformation, and talent cultivation. Through holistic education, interdisciplinary inquiry, and problem-based learning, it systematically develops students’ core competencies to face future challenges and continuously expands into campus governance and real-world practice.
