Overview

The Leadership Lab is designed to fuel transformative change by supporting you, leaders at every level, to embrace the pursuit of sustainability across all scales: from the local to the global, and across the diverse communities and stakeholders that make up higher and further education.

Your wisdom, expertise, sense of purpose, and ambition to drive societal betterment matter. Bring your full self to this programme. Use this immersive, experiential space to draw upon your courage and hope, connect with a powerful peer community, and shape a world that leaves no one behind.

Course objectives

This 3-day course is designed to help you:

  • Lead authentically and embed sustainability into strategy and operations

  • Develop influence and negotiation skills to change thinking and build alliances

  • Explore adaptive leadership to manage complexity, pushback and uncertainty

  • Strengthen resilience through compassion, reflection and peer support

  • Apply proven frameworks directly to your own project or challenge

  • Learn how your peers are embedding sustainability whilst balancing financial priorities

  • Connect with guest speakers and senior leaders in post-16 education facing similar challenges

About the facilitator

Professor Wendy Purcell FRSA is a practitioner and academic specialising in leadership and sustainability.

She is the current vice chair for education and professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and Justice at the Rutgers Universities in New Jersey, the USA. She continues to research global leadership and governance for sustainable transformation in higher education.

Prior to joining Rutgers, Wendy led research on this topic at Harvard University. She also worked at a strategic level with a number of health organisations including the NHS, the UK Council for Healthcare Scientists and Health Education England.

Wendy has authored over one hundred publications and has edited a number of books on higher education, the Sustainable Development Goals, climate change strategies, leadership and organisational development.

Fees

£1,550 which includes:
