Establishing a good relationship between the university or college and the local community is important for many reasons, not least to attract students presently under-represented in higher and further education and more local students.
Increasingly universities and colleges are recognising their potential impacts of the wider community some positive, some negative. Noisy students and the disruption of staff cars and delivery lorries are typical complaints, but as regional economic and social regenerators education institution’s positive impact is potentially huge.
