What we do

We exist to support the post-16 education sector to embed sustainability in everything it does.

From practical tools and training to policy influence and partnerships, we work alongside our members and partners to drive systemic change – on campuses, in communities and across the whole sector. We promote holistic approaches that embed sustainability across:

Collaboration and community

We create spaces for connection, collaboration and shared learning. Our networks, communities of practice, and working groups bring together sustainability professionals, educators and senior leaders to solve challenges, build momentum, and grow collective impact.

Capacity building and training

We support our members to build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to embed sustainability into every part of their organisation. Our learning and development offer covers everything from carbon literacy to whole institution approaches to sustainability.

Resources and tools

We develop frameworks and tools designed specifically for the post-16 education sector. These help institutions and staff plan, take action and track progress using meaningful, credible and practical methods.

Data and insights

We collect and share data and insights that help shape the future of sustainability in education, as well as stories of effective practice, impact and innovation from across the sector.

We provide evidence that informs action – whether celebrating success at the Green Gown Awards or tracking progress against the Sustainable Development Goals, sharing case studies or reporting sector trends.

Advocacy and influence

We work with governments, regulators, funders and sector bodies to champion climate justice, nature recovery, and sustainability through education. Through consultations, campaigns and policy partnerships, we ensure the voice of the sector is not only heard but acted upon.

Leadership and accountability

We provide platforms for leadership through sector-wide commitments such as the SDG Accord and Race to Zero. These commitments support transparency, drive ambition, and demonstrate the sector’s role in shaping a just and sustainable future.
