We are pleased to announce the election of two new board members that bring a wealth of experience and passion for sustainability in education.
Last week, EAUC held its annual AGM virtually, and it was a great success!

If you missed it, you can find a video recording and other documentation including the AGM presentation2019 Annual Report and Summary, and other AGM paperhere.

We were delighted to announce the election of two new board members at the AGM, they are Laurence Frewin, Principal and CEO at South Devon College and Karen Morgan OBE DL DEd, Vice Chair of Council at University of Gloucestershire.

Laurence Frewin, Principal and CEO at South Devon College, said:
“I am proud, and absolutely delighted, to have been elected as a Board Member and Trustee of the EAUC and look forward to representing the Further Education sector at such a critical time in our history for sustainability and the environment. Taking positive action to address climate change through education has never been more important and our students expect us to be making a positive difference through activity. Further Education Colleges are key civic institutions in their local community and need to be leading the way in responding to the climate crisis. I believe the EAUC has a significant part to play to support this long overdue change to the way we do things and I am excited to be joining such a key organisation at the heart of all of this.”

Karen Morgan, OBE DL DEd, Vice Chair of Council at University of Gloucestershire, said:
I applied to become a Trustee of EAUC because I am passionate about sustainability and resilience. It is clear that humankind has caused enormous damage to our planet, and we have but a short time to save it, and ourselves. EAUC ,The  Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education, has an important role to play in assuring our future through the education of our young people. I have thirty years experience of University Governance, most recently as Vice Chair of the University of Gloucestershire, ranked 1st for sustainability in the People and Planet league, and I have been the Council’s champion for sustainability for eight years.”

These two new trustees bring a wealth of experience and we look forward to working with them.

A huge and special thanks went to outgoing EAUC Trustee and Chair Janet Haddock-Fraser, Professor of Sustainability and Leadership at Manchester Metropolitan University, and EAUC Trustee Chris Long, Health, Safety and Sustainable Development Manager at Bridgend College. Both trustees have now retired from the Board as they have served their maximum term.
We are pleased to confirm that EAUC Trustee and Climate Commissioner James Longhurst, Assistant Vice Chancellor at University of the West of England has been voted as the new Chair by the Board.
