Company Description

The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) Ltd is an independent not for profit company owned by Higher & Further Education institutions that are its members. We seek to advance education and training in relation to catering and hospitality activities; this is achieved through the provision of training courses, conferences, exhibitions and competitions. Additionally we seek opportunities to exploit economies of scale available by co-ordinating demand of individual universities & colleges.

Sustainability Statement

TUCO's key objectives are to aim towards:

•  Encouraging 1st tier suppliers to identify & address points of sustainability risk in the end to end supply chain.

•  Encouraging the 4Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle and re-think) throughout the end to end supply chain

•  Value for money, including consideration of whole life costs throughout contracts.

•  Creating Sustainable Framework Agreements which are structured and advertised to appeal to the widest possible number of suppliers.

•  Adherence to quality assurance standards for food safety and animal welfare

Recent Projects

TUCO have worked closely with suppliers and members and removed many of the traditional barriers to entry for micro and small enterprises to engage with public sector procurement. This has seen a significant increase in expenditure with small businesses who are able to provide, often unique, solutions and services to the sector.

TUCO have embedded sustainability criteria into all contracts taking into account specifications and whole life costing and ongoing improvements.
