The University of Huddersfield’s Sustainability Team invites you to attend their first ‘Women in Sustainability’ event where they will be joined by an exciting, all female panel to discuss the vital role of women working in sustainability. The event will be held on Wednesday 5th May, 12:15-13:45.

Outlined as one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Gender Equality and female empowerment is internationally recognised as being at the core of sustainability. Recent research has highlighted the critical role that women in leadership have had in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the importance of the attributes that women in leadership positions bring to the table. In spite of this, according to the Womens Equality Party women make up only 29% of MPs, 25% of judges and 24% FTSE directors.

Come along to hear from panelists as they showcase the paths they have taken to get to their current roles in sustainability, including challenges they have overcome and the goals they have achieved.

This is an exciting opportunity to explore the business and career opportunities that exist within the wider sustainability sector, while networking with inspiring female leaders and learning how as a male or female you can be an ally to women in business and sustainability.

The session will be hosted on Zoom by Fiona Hesselden, Director of Fundraising at the UN Refugee Agency. Fiona will be joined by an all-female panel, who although subject to change,  are outlined below:
  • Kirsty Smith, CEO of CBM UK
  • Adele Jones: Professor of Social Work at the University of Huddersfield
  • Katherine Lampen, leader in Deloitte's Sustainability and Climate Change Team
  • Sarah Agar-Brennan, Entrepeneur and Enterprise advisor
