The technologies used in university and colleges have negative environmental, social and financial impacts during use, but also during the development and disposal stages of each product's lifecycle. However, technology is essential for how we work and teach, and also has great potential to influence individual behaviour, leading to more sustainable institutions. Increasing engagement between those who procure, manage and dispose of IT and sustainability teams is essential to ensure better decision-making, considering the long-term financial, social and environmental impacts of IT at your institution.

EAUC-Scotland is hosting a virtual training opportunity for Sustainability, IT, procurement and waste disposal professionals who are looking to breakdown silos and work across departments to help drive sustainable IT practices.

Topics will include:
  • Communication – creating a shared language between the Sustainability and IT teams, and collaborating on issues within your institution
  • Influencing behaviour change – energy efficiency initiatives and using data to identify savings opportunities
  • Sustainable IT procurement and disposal – considering IT reuse schemes and setting Sustainable IT procurement and disposal practices within the institution
Book with a buddy – in order to get the most from this training it would be beneficial for attendees from multiple departments at each institution to attend. Please encourage your IT / procurement / IT disposal / sustainability colleagues to join the training as well. (Please book separately so we can communicate with all attendees)

We want you to get the most out of this training. Use it as a chance to make  inter-departmental connections, to consider and discuss the topic of sustainable IT at your institution from different perspectives, and to create a collaborative plan for action and continued engagement across teams.

Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions or require assistance booking your place.
