Senior Climate, Biodiversity and Sustainability Manager - University of Edinburgh

The university are looking for a high quality individual to lead and manage a team with embedding sustainability across operations, providing in depth expertise on the University’s operational greenhouse gas footprint and wider environmental impacts.  

The Opportunity:  
The role will include leading action effectively support action in all of these areas whilst providing in depth expertise on our estates related greenhouse gas emissions (both operational and embedded in construction and retrofit).The role will also oversee the delivery of for example carbon foot printing all scope 3 emissions; decarbonisation pathway development; biodiversity improvements project delivery; and specific analysis in relation to carbon or biodiversity impacts of for example IT, laboratory, or transport policies.

Your Skills and Attributes for Success:  
  • Significant demonstrable experience of effective carbon analysis and decarbonisation pathway development focused on estates and buildings related emissions.
  • Experience in one or all of developing and delivering biodiversity action plans, resilience and adaptation plans, zero waste plans and/ or programmes of work delivering circular economy related outcomes.
  • Significant demonstrable programme and project management experience including the ability to effectively plan, manage, monitor, and deliver on multiple tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively managing individuals in a team including management of resource allocation, setting team objectives and determining priorities within resource constraints.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders from a wide variety of backgrounds.
