Safety, Health and Environment Adviser - Liverpool John Moores University

Reporting to the Head of Safety, Health and Environment, you will advise, support and monitor the delivery of the University’s health and safety and environmental compliance and enhancement agendas, with a focus on specialist hazard activities.

Within this collaborative, cross-discipline team, you will provide competent, practical and pragmatic specialist health and safety and environmental advice and support. Working closely with colleagues in scientific and research departments, you will provide health and safety advice in key specialist areas, including chemical, biological and radiological safety and monitor controls, licences and authorisations. You will undertake periodic inspections, audits and reviews of safety management and performance, particularly in laboratories and workshops and advise on the relevant health and safety and environmental aspects of the design and use of building, plant and equipment. In addition, you will develop and maintain an environmental aspects and impacts register and advise on the development and maintenance of environmental emergency procedures and ensure health and safety advice is available in an emergency. Delivery of health and safety training (such as COSHH and DSEAR) and environmental compliance and awareness training, as required, will be a feature.
