We are looking for a Head of Social Impact to be responsible for the overall coherence, coordination, management, measurement and reporting of the University’s local social and community impact across all of its functions including improving the external and internal narrative coherence of the University’s local social impact.

The Opportunity:
The postholder would bring together current disparate work on community strategy, volunteering, measurement of social impact, social enterprise and social investment activity, relations with the city deal programme and community benefit activities. They would create and manage a new Social Impact Unit reporting to the Director of Social Responsibility and Sustainability.

Your skills and attributes for success:
  • Degree or post-graduate degree in an appropriate discipline such as local economic development, community development, social policy, sustainability or equivalent practical experience 
  • Significant track record of delivering social or sustainability change via large organisations or working with large organisations to deliver that social change 
  • Significant experience of working on social, environmental, sustainability or social responsibility agendas, within a public sector, private or third sector context  
  • Proven ability to innovate to deliver social goals and extensive experience of building partnerships for social change  
  • Understanding of social policy, homelessness, anti-poverty, local economic development, community benefit, social enterprise and social investment, sustainability and social responsibility concepts and their applicability to a university environment
