Graduate Sustainability Projects Officer (Intern) - Plymouth Marjon University

The role is ideally suited for someone looking to start their career in sustainability. This one year fixed term will give the successful candidate a broad range of experience in operational and professional sustainability services. The role will involve establishing the University's environmental management system to the new ISO 14001:2015 standard, engaging with staff, students and contractors on sustainability, waste management and all facets of the University's operations which have an environmental impact.

The Sustainability Projects Officer will assist the Director of Estates & IT Infrastructure with the development and implementation of the University's Sustainability Policy, contributing to the effective management of the University's environmental aspects and impacts and raising awareness about environmental best practice across the University. The post holder will act as a champion for sustainable practice across the university, assisting in driving cultural and behavioural change throughout the organisation. This will involve promoting sustainability, assisting with the implementation of polices and management.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing campaigns and awareness activities, well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills and be committed to sustainability and the environment. They will have knowledge of a wide range of environmental issues including: energy, waste, transport, food and procurement/supply chains. A good general standard of education to degree level or equivalent by experience or competence is essential.
