ESD Coordinator - Nottingham Trent University

Nottingham Trent University is one of the most sustainable universities in the UK according to the People & Planet University League 2019. This is because our work in sustainability covers all functions: we have an ISO14001 certified Environmental Management System, recognising the quality of one of the greenest estates in the sector including a multi award-winning carbon-negative building; our catering has achieved the prestigious ‘food for life catering’ silver award and we were awarded gold within the LiFE Sustainability Index. NTU has also made major progress in the area of Education for Sustainable Development in recent years by creating  NTU's Green Academy which promotes our online Sustainability in Practice Certificate and supports the implementation of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals into all taught courses. The certificate and several other projects of the Green Academy were shortlisted for Green Gown Awards and the leader of the Green Academy awarded EAUC's 'Sustainability Professional of the Year' title in 2016.

We are currently in the process of preparing our new strategy which will embrace sustainability in everything we do and are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate to the position of ESD Co-ordinator to assist us in this work. The ESD Co-ordinator will support the development of ESD-related curriculum initiatives as well as community and student engagement projects. Work includes supporting academic colleagues with curriculum design, developing online and in-person teaching material, coordinating publicity including social media, providing administrative support and organising events. The post-holder should be adaptable and enthusiastic with good communication skills. They should also be capable of multi-tasking on several projects simultaneously and should be able to communicate and work with different groups of stakeholders both within and outside the university. A good knowledge of sustainability issues is essential.
