Environmental Sustainability is a Guiding Principle of the University of Leicester’s Strategy and they are committed to becoming net zero carbon as well as contributing to the UN SDGs.

The Social Impact Team leads on the University’s Climate Strategy which embeds the UN SDGs within Environmental Management, Teaching, Research and the Community. This role will work as part of a supportive, dynamic and innovative team and assist the EMS Manager with the implementation of the University’s Climate Strategy, contributing to the effective management of the University’s environmental impacts and raising awareness about environmental best practice across the University.

The post holder will work across the University to act as a champion for sustainable practice, and help to drive cultural and behavioural change throughout the organisation. This will involve working with departmental Environmental Action Coordinators and students to promote sustainability, by ensuring consistent implementation of policies and management systems, and promoting and coordinating sustainability initiatives, projects and campaigns across the University.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of sustainability and social issues and knowledge of a wide range of environmental issues. You will have experience in delivering sustainability projects and/or campaigns and events, be a creative communicator with a variety of audiences and media and an ability to develop effective relationships across the organisation.
