The Estates & Commercial Services Directorate is large and diverse, employing circa 300 people, ranging from plumbers, electricians, carpenters, cleaners, porters, leisure centre assistants, to property management professionals, architects, project officers, CAD, space management, sustainability and energy and administrative personnel.


Under the guidance of the Energy Manager, the Energy Officer will be responsible for managing the university’s energy data and utility billing administration, helping to develop and deliver the university’s Energy Policy and Carbon Management Plan, supporting the delivery of energy saving projects and initiatives and liaising with staff, students and external bodies regarding energy and carbon related matters across the organisation.

Ideal Candidate

You should hold a Degree in a relevant field; have strong numerical and spreadsheet skills to enable accurate compilation of data for reporting; be able to develop energy policies and procedures to support energy saving initiatives; be able to use your own initiative to further develop the energy management system; be able to manage and administer budgets; be an effective team member; be customer focussed; and have good interpersonal skills which will enable you to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
