Carbon and Sustainability Analyst - The University of Edinburgh

The university are looking for a high quality individual to lead work on analysing and reporting on the University’s greenhouse gas emissions and wider environmental impacts.

The Opportunity:  
The role will primarily focus on greenhouse gas analysis across scope 1, 2 and all scope 3 emissions. In addition, it will develop reporting and measurement frameworks and analysis for biodiversity impacts and potentially other environmental metrics in relation to plastics, water and circular economy. The role will support the development of decarbonisation pathways and scenarios for the University against both its scope 1 and 2 emissions and all scope 3 emissions, as well as developing custom scenarios examining the impacts of particular policy options.

Your Skills and Attributes for Success:  
  • Significant carbon accounting and reporting experience aligned to the greenhouse gas accounting protocol and/ or environmental impact analysis and reporting with a strong greenhouse has component.
  • Advanced research skills to support carbon and environmental impact analysis in for example embedded carbon of construction materials, IT or Lab equipment.
  • Experience in one or all of measurement and analysis against biodiversity action plans, resilience and adaptation plans, zero waste plans and/ or programmes of work delivering circular economy related outcomes.
  • Experience in report writing, good attention to detail and strong numerical ability and data proficiency, including experience in excel or other modelling systems.
