2011 Awards Night

The 2011 Green Gown Awards ceremony took place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, on 3rd November. The ceremony was hosted by Krishnan Guru-Murthy, presenter of Channel 4 News.


Krishnan Guru-Murthy

Krishnan has reported and presented much of Channel 4's special coverage of major news events from the Omagh bombing in 1998 to September 11th 2001 and from the Iraq War of 2003 to the Mumbai attacks of 2008.
Krishnan has presented a variety of other successful series and one-off programmes for Channel 4's Science department including The Operation : Surgery Live, The Autopsy, Britain's Deadliest Addictions and Going Cold Turkey. In the Current Affairs department he has presented The TV Show and reported for Dispatches. He has also presented radio programmes for LBC and BBC Radio 4, and written for a variety of newspapers.

Krishnan has also appeared in a variety of entertainment and comedy programmes including 8 out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Bremner, Bird and Fortune. He also presented The National Lottery Live.


Hard Rain Project

Hard Rain Project is a not-for profit company established to support public exhibitions and other communications that campaign for realistic solutions to the interlinked problems of climate change, poverty, the wasteful use of resources, population expansion, habitat destruction and species loss.

The Hard Rain exhibition was launched at the Eden Project in Cornwall in May 2006. One of the most successful photographic exhibitions ever made, Hard Rain has seen by 15 million people at over 100 venues, and continues to tour worldwide.

Usually presented as a continuous 60-metre outdoor banner, an indoor version was displayed in the lobby of UN headquarters in New York from May to June 2008, to coincide with the sixteenth Review Session of the UN's Commission on Sustainable Development and World Earth Day.

Hard Rain director Mark Edwards delivered a showcase talk about the project at the beginning of the event at 6.45pm.
