Climate change is not only a risk in itself to operational, teaching and research activities, but also a multiplier of many other risks. It is vital that considerations of climate change risks and how these risks can be minimised (through adaptation actions), do not become siloed within the remit of Sustainability or Estates Teams.

This webinar will introduce two Guides published in summer 2019, which highlight why, and how, to effectively embed considerations of climate change risk within your existing risk and business continuity procedures.

The Guides and accompanying resources were developed by a Working Group of FHE sustainability and risk professionals, led by EAUC and HEBCoN (the Higher Education Business Continuity Network) with the support of adaptation specialists from AECOM.

Dial in to hear about:

  • The background to the project - why this work was initiated and who was involved (led by EAUC)
  • The resources available in Guide 1 to help you make the case and take action at your institution (led by AECOM)
  • The step-by-step process outlined in Guide 2 to embed your institution’s adaptation process into your existing risk and resilience structures to ensure this work becomes mainstreamed (led by HEBCoN)
  • An estates management perspective on why adaptation action now is so important to protect your physical assets, and how these guides can help your journey (led by AUDE)

There will also be time for questions, as well as a discussion about how we can continue to develop resources to support your climate change adaptation journey.
