Dear EAUC,

IWWF’s Earth Hour 2009 was a massive global phenomenon, where millions of people around the world switched off their lights for one hour. This awe-inspiring event sent a dramatic visual signal to world leaders that they must take urgent action on climate change.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday 27th March 2010 at 8.30pm. We want a billion people around the world to switch off their lights for one hour – WWF’s Earth Hour - to show world leaders there is still a job to be done. We hope to get even more universities, Colleges and student organisations signed up to the event this year, to promote positive action on climate change among the student population.

WWF’s Earth Hour 2010 promotes positive action on climate change by encouraging people to think more about sustainability and environmental management at all levels. Thus, we would welcome the opportunity to work with you on spreading the message to universities across the country. We also hope that you will sign up to this event; it’s quick and easy to sign up and can be done online at www.wwf.org.uk/earthhour.

There are also many other ways to get involved which can be seen on the website, including a video competition with a £1000 prize!
