CaSPr Topic Support Network - Waste Management
Introduction
This TSN looks at the responsibility placed on all those involved in the management and disposal practices within an institution for waste in a manner that does not harm the environment, whether this be through the minimisation of waste produced and its pollution or an improvement in the uses made of the existing waste. The FHE sector has a huge role to play in promoting and achieving sustainable development and can play a major part in reducing impacts on the environment and resources by using more efficient manufacturing processes and producing less waste.
In the past this TSN group has looked at a range of topics including:
- How to Manage Your Waste
- Legislation and Duty of Care
- Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
Priorities
The Waste TSN has identified the following as their draft priorities for 2007/2008:- Deliver a half day workshop on waste management and minimisation
- Development of a Waste Aware Campus website in partnership with SWAG
- Development of a guidance note on waste management and minimisation
