Sustainability Leadership Scorecard

Latest news
EAUC are delighted to confirm that, with the generous support from the former HEFCE, we are working with ARUP and AUDE to develop the Sustainability Leadership Scorecard.

We are working very closely with ARUP who designed the Green Scorecard to use much of the functionality within the current tool. The Sustainability Leadership Scorecard will cover sustainability issues beyond the estates function.

The Sustainability Leadership Scorecard allows a coordinated whole-institution approach to sustainability. The Sustainability Leadership Scorecard will provide you with reports that you can use to communicate the critical drivers within your own institution, set targets and monitor progress.

We are providing workshops at the AUDE Conference and the EAUC Conference that will take you through the Sustainability Leadership Scorecard to show how the outputs can be used to effectively connect with senior leadership teams. Our continued aim is to provide a useful management and developmental tool for our members.

The new Sustainability Leadership Scorecard will be just one web portal and login which includes the Green Scorecard. The Sustainability Leadership Scorecard will be free to use.

Key Features

The Sustainability Leadership Scorecard will provide you with the following features to help members:
  • Minimise duplication: members can select from a wide range of sustainability standards and accreditations, such as ISO 14001, Green Impact, Responsible Futures, BREEAM, etc. which you are already using and this automatically provides you with a starting score
  • Useful Reporting: Members can download Management Reports to help you provide the monitoring and reporting to show impact and value to senior management
  • SDG Mapping: Scores are automatically mapped against the UN Sustainable Development Goals and provide members with a simple and easy to understand report on impact on the SDGs
  • Comparison: Members will be able to compare their progress with other institutions across the UK and Ireland. Members can also select their own specific university or college groups to compare to – such as institutions within your region or institutions of a similar size and/or function
  • Verification: The Sustainability Leadership Scorecard remains to be a self-assessment tool. However, for those that wish to seek external verification we will be providing a Gap Analysis Validation which will include a detailed report to help you improve and communicate your performance if you wish to do this.
We aim to have the Sustainability Leadership Scorecard in place by May and we will be delivering workshops at the AUDE and EAUC Conferences to provide our members with further information and guidance.

The Green Scorecard will remain live and useable through this period of development, your institutional logins remain unchanged.
Activity Background
The Green Scorecard is a comprehensive tool to help Higher Education Institutions across the UK measure the Estates based sustainability work they do, set targets and benchmark.

The AUDE Green Scorecard has been designed independently by ARUP based on consultation and feedback from both AUDE and EAUC members to create a fit for purpose benchmarking, management and planning tool. It has been developed with flexibility to recognise and reflect the size, location and specific individual institutional specialisms.  The tool focuses on topics including energy; transport; water; waste; adaptation; biodiversity and landscape; procurement and management. Online reports in these areas can be produced to aid and inform the development of estates and environmental sustainability strategies.
