The Estates Directorate will play a key role in making the University’s Vision a reality in developing an estate that delivers against its strategic priorities, including growing a sustainable economy and enabling a greener future to ensure the university meet their net zero targets.

The Sustainability Team is responsible for shaping, developing and implementing long-term policies and plans to improve the University’s performance across a wide range of areas of environmental sustainability through the University’s Sustainability Policy and Strategic Plans. This role will contribute to the delivery of several of these aims through the data collection, monitoring and delivery of a wide range of projects and initiatives.

About the post
This role will be responsible for undertaking data entry and supporting the implementation and monitoring of the Universities Utilities consumption, costs and carbon usage. Some of the daily responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting with preparation of sustainability policies and annual action plans working to institutional key performance indicators
  • Assisting in the preparation of built environment and energy efficiency infrastructure project proposals, monitoring progress and supporting the successful delivery of objectives within agreed budgets and timescales
  • Carrying out comms work including, but not limited to writing blog posts, creating press releases, updating the University webpages, updating social media pages and participating in key events to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives
  • Supporting the development and running of programmes of events and activities for freshers and Sustainability engagement events
About the post holder
You will have a good knowledge of a range of environment matters, in particular those relating to climate and energy and a passion for, and knowledge of a range of built environment and/or infrastructure issues as they relate to sustainability. Strong numerical skills and an ability to manage and extract data from a variety of database and invoice sources is a must.
