Sustainable Development is about ensuring that development "meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." (Brundtland, 1987). Further Education can play an important role and you are a big part of that. See Why is Sustainable Development Important? for more.

As a work-based learning provider you already have the advantage of having better links with employers and the community, giving you the opportunity to be a real leader in this field.

Be it through Train to Gain or encouraging employers to take the Skills Pledge, there is much to do to ensure that UK employers have access to employees with the skills, understanding and commitment needed to drive and deliver a sustainable economy, community and environment.
