From this benchmarking study, carried out in 2000-03, it was
established that if all HE/FE establishments studied were to
achieve or better the typical benchmark, then 1.3 million m³
of water per annum could be saved. Based on an estimate of the net
floor area of the total estate (using 2000-03 figures), the total
potential save is 20.1 million m³ of water.
